Program Description
The program prepares professionals capable of integrating knowledge of science, engineering, business and technology to master the process of guiding creativity, R&D activities, product development, commercialization and the management of different technological resources for sustainable development. Courses offered stress the importance of understanding the accelerating rate of change, uncertainty and dynamics of the innovation process. They are designed to cover theoretical foundations and practical applications that equip students with the necessary skills related to managing technological resources at the macro-level of countries as well as the micro-level of an organization.

MSc degree offered by NU is accredited by the Supreme Council of University (SCU), the Government of Egypt.
It is structured according to the guidelines established by the International Association for Management of Technology (IAMOT). It is also benchmarked against best universities worldwide having similar programs. The program is offered in collaboration with a number of international institutions such as: Minnesota’s Primary Research University (USA), the University of Minnesota’s Center for Development of Technological Leadership (USA), the University of Miami which pioneered one of the earliest MOT programs worldwide and sought by and was offered to managers of major industrial multinationals such as IBM, AT&T, Boeing, GE and more.
Who should attend
The MOT program is designed for graduates who have obtained their undergraduate degree in technology related disciplines, in business, or are involved in managing a technology-based entity. It is also directed to technology entrepreneurs (or to be). Potential students, preferably are: who have previous work experience, employees of multinational corporations, government or private sector, people involved in applied research and development activities, as well as managers in small and medium companies or entrepreneurs.
Program Outcomes
After graduation, students will be capable of coping with the inherent difficulties of technology foresight and be able to manage in an environment of continuous evolution of market due to intertwined social, market and technical dynamics. This allows them to keep pace with and embrace new emerging technologies and actively guide organization in such changing environments. Students will be able to integrate technology and business strategies, develop an effective organizational structure and the necessary functions that permit sustainable success.
The Academic Loading and Program Curriculum
The Masters of Science in MOT requires completing at least 30 credit hours of course work in addition to a thesis, beyond the Bachelor degree. The program content is divided into four focus areas: the first covers the Management of Technology-Centered Knowledge (18 cr. hrs). This focuses on the management procedures associated with the exploitation of technological resources. The second covers Knowledge of Corporate Functions (6 cr. hrs). It focuses on basic business functions in an organization. The third area covers Technology Centered Knowledge which is related to specific technology field or critical technology required for the specialization (6 cr. hrs). The fourth area focuses on research activities. Under certain conditions, a student may choose to replace the Thesis (12 cr. hrs.) by a research Project (6 cr. hrs.) and 6 credit hours elected courses.

Notes:
• All students must successfully complete the course MOT 606: “Research Methods and Advanced Statistics” before submitting their Project/Theses proposals.
• The student receives a grade of “P” when his/her thesis/ project paper is completed and successfully defended. Until then, the student semester evaluation on his/her progress towards completing a thesis/ Major Paper is granted a grade of “S” or “US”.
• The Project/Thesis must be submitted and defended successfully within one to three years from the date of accepting its proposal.
• Subject to the recommendation of the student’s advisor, the consent of the program director, and the approval of the Dean, the student’s thesis can be substituted by a Masters Project (649) in addition to six credit hours of elective courses.
• Student is to defend her/his thesis/project against an examining committee assigned by the Dean of the Graduate Studies.
